My Story
my midget1

After looking at a few exampies I stumbled over this one which was being sold by a classic car garage. (repairs garage, not sales garage) in Worthing - Simply Classics. The owner had emigrated and asked the garage to sell it for him.

The body was solid, apart from an outer sill. It only had 5 owners and although the history was patchy it did have some huge bills including a bare metal respray in 2000, a new cylinder head, brake master cylinder and front calipers. The gearbox was very noisy ain all the gears except fourth so after negotiating I had the 'box replaced at the owners expense.

While the box was out I asked them to do a few jobs to it including new engine bearings and clutch plate. After handing over some more money home it went!

Applying for car tax was a fiasco as the MOT certificate had the registration number minus the last character so the post office wouldn't tax it. Futhermore, the MOT inspector had put the body number and not the GAN chassis number on the certificate! The result of all this was a visit by the local Dept of Transport inspector.

Ownership now consists mostly of repairing little foibles its had since I bought it!
